The book project and digital source portal “History of the German-Jewish Diaspora” is for the first time systematically dedicated to the lives of German-speaking jews in the diaspora. As a hybrid research project of the Academic Working Group of the Leo Baeck Institute in Germany, it is being realized at the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European-Jewish Studies in Potsdam under the leadership of its Director Prof. Dr. Miriam Rürup.

The project, which is supported by an international advisory board and based on latest research, is hybrid in nature. In addition to a classic print publication, an on-line source portal will be launched that will provide in-depth case studies. The Volkswagen Foundation is supporting the realization of the project.
